The 'main-stream' media is losing this war with the Trump administration, and they will continue to do so until they re-evaluate change their strategy. Now, let me say that I'm not a journalist, although I have owned my own little newspaper, once upon a time in a 'state' far, far away. But its clear that the media is in a war, and the winner of that war may well determine the future of the Free Press and of democracy in general. The press cannot afford to make any more mistakes, and must - MUST - realize that the game has changed, and that they must change with it, or die. Let me make an example that I hope is easily understood. Lets use this latest dust-up over the size of the crowd at the inauguration. Instead of trying to prove that the crowd was smaller (as it obviously is from the picture), and thereby inviting blow-back from the Trump administration, take a different tack.
Now, It's really not necessary to get anyone in trouble, or jepordize some poor employee's job, so no questions about 'crowd size' should be asked. Simply ask if the photo is genuine? Is it the standard practice of this agency to take these pictures? Were they taken at the same time? (not counting years). Have the employee just verify these things. Then go with that story – just as outlined – and leave it up to the citizens to make a judgment on the crowd size. But this constant desire on the part of the media to get a 'gotcha' on the spot just plays into the hands of people like KellyAnne Conway. It gives her an opening to hit back with THEIR message, and that is that the media is trying to de-legitimize the Trump Election. This story should have been plain and simple... Here's the photo-evidence America, you decide.... One more thing: The MSM needs to take a deep look inside itself. We all have biases, but are they sure (on every story) that theirs is being held in check? Because it is unmistakably apparent that some (even small) biases that creep into a given story, instantly kill any (ANY) of the otherwise truthful and accurate information. If you aren't 100% accurate, you're more than just part of the problem, you ARE the problem. |
